The governor of Michigan, Democrat Jennifer Granholm, ticked off some folks the other day when she dissed our state.

Here's what she allegedly said, "What we're fighting for is for Michigan not to be Mississippi."

You see, Granholm in the middle of a budget fight and she apparently thought the idea of mighty Michigan turning into miserable Mississippi would help her cause up there. But of course congressman Gene Taylor was right when he called her comment "stupid."

Michigan is an economic disaster zone. Its unemployment rate is the worst in the country, over 15 percent. Forbes magazine demoted michigan to 49th place on this year's list of the 'best states for business,' nine spots below Mississippi, which has been rising.

And why is that? Perhaps Michigan is radioactive to business thanks to decades of boneheaded mismanagement by two-bit hack politicians like Jennifer Granholm, whose answer to everything is raising taxes and hiring more bureaucrats.

Look, everybody knows that Mississippi has a long way to go before we lead the nation in economic well-being.  But no one should count us out. Because we have the grit and the spirit to make it happen. No matter how many times we're dumped on... Or flown over... We're at work every single day making our communities and our state  better. And people a lot more significant than Jennifer Granholm have taken notice. T

here are good reasons why Nissan and Toyota chose to build their billion-dollar car plants down here and not up there.

So watch what you say, governor Granholm.

Because who knows? One day you could be looking for a job...in Mississippi.
