JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Jones County escaped convict is back behind bars after escaping from a road crew and being allegedly caught holding a gun to another man's head.

Gregory Simmons, 25, of Laurel allegedly held a .40 caliber handgun to a man's head Friday when he was spotted by an off-duty Laurel investigator, Michael Reeves.

In addition to Reeves being at the scene, several 911 calls led police to Simmons.

Shelton Jackson, 21, of Laurel was also arrested.

Reeves said police are still looking for two other suspects in a Friday night robbery, and they are considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police said Simmons could be facing several additional charges. Simmons is back in the custody of Jones County Sheriff Department being without bond.
