HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of Southern Miss alumni, administrators, faculty and staff gathered this morning to officially re-open the university's newly-renovated and expanded Ogletree House. That facility is home to the U.S.M. Alumni Association.

The Ogletree House is named in honor of Powell Ogletree, who served more than 30 years as director of alumni relations at Southern Miss. He died in 2004.

During the last 20 months, construction crews have been renovating the 97-year-old building and enlarging it to nearly twice its former size.

At a ceremony today, Southern Miss officials thanked the more than 850 donors who contributed millions of dollars towards the completion of the project.

Also during today's ceremony, attendees paused for a moment of silence to remember the victims of the attacks of Sept. 11th.
