LAUREL, MS (WDAM)- Jones County board of supervisors said they are only weeks away for finalizing plans on a new department of human service building.

Jones County Board of Supervisors President Andy Dial spoke to members of the Laurel Express and other citizens on Thursday about possible building the facility near downtown.

Members of the Laurel Express are against the idea saying it create major parking problems.

DHS officials said the location is great because 85 percent of their clients are from the Laurel area.

He said the board's  second option for the new facility is next to the health department in Ellisville.
