HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - A new security system is being tested at this weekend's USM home football game that allows fans to text message concerns to authorities.

Fans will now be able to text message the number 41513 followed by USM and a space, then a description of their concern. The text is received at a central command post where authorities will assign the problem to the proper agency.

University Police Chief Bob Hopkins, said there will be between 150 to 200 safety and emergency responders at Saturday's home football game.

"And then we can respond back to them with a text telling them we got their message and that we referred it to the responsible party. And then when we are finished and have addressed the issue we can send it back to them and let them know that it's fixed," said Hopkins.

A Florida-based software company, In Stadium Solutions, created the text message system which is currently established at 60 other NCAA schools.
