Shooting wounds woman at Hattiesburg night club

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Sunday, shortly after midnight, Hattiesburg police responded to a shooting at the House of Blues night club along Hwy 49.

A woman was wounded in the leg by a bullet after an argument led to gunfire.

Officers arrived in the parking lot of the business shortly after 12 a.m. and learned there had been an argument outside of the club between several men.

Witnesses said one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds.

A 35-year-old woman, who was not involved in the argument, was shot once in the lower part of her right leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The suspect in the shooting was described as a black male, about 5-foot 9-inches tall wearing dark clothing.

Police are still working to gather further details about the suspect. Anyone with information about this shooting or the suspect involved is asked to report their information to Metro Crime Stoppers at 601.582.7867.
