Hattiesburg police investigating murder

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Police are looking for the suspects responsible for the shooting death of a 39-year-old Hattiesburg man found on Mobile Street.  

On Monday around 10 p.m., Hattiesburg police responded to a shooting near the 700 block of Mobile Street.

Police and emergency response personnel arrived on the scene and discovered the body of a black male who had suffered several gunshot wounds. The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

His name has not been released pending the notification of the next of kin.  

Witnesses reported seeing a gray car pull up beside the victim just before the shooting. There was a report of yelling between the victim and someone inside the car before the sound of gun fire.

The suspect's vehicle then fled the scene headed south on Mobile Street.  

Police are asking anyone with any information about this incident or those involved to call in their information to call 601.582.7867.
