LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The city of Laurel is in the market for a new fire chief.
City officials said Chief David Chance has submitted his letter of retirement.
Chance has been with the Laurel Fire Department for 29 years, the last two and half years as chief.
City Administrator Dennis Keveryn said the effective date has not been determined, but it should be in the near future.
It is not known who will serve as interim chief once the retirement takes effect.

Bond was set for two Jones County church burglary suspects on Thursday. The two individuals, who authorities say are responsible for a rash of church burglaries, made their initial appearances in court on Thursday. Roderick Zamora, 30 of Ovett, was positively identified by his parole officer. A search warrant was issued for his arrest.
