HATTIESBURG (WDAM) - There is a national award ready to be hung inside the Hattiesburg Train Depot downtown.

The American Institute of Architects selected the depot for an award to commemorate the building's design and preservation.

The award is in honor of architect Larry Albert and contractor Dorian Shoemake, the two men responsible for the building project. It took 10 years to get the project completed.

The depot was slated to be torn down before the renovations.

The depot was originally built in 1910. Two honor awards were given statewide.
