HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - First Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg was a busy place Tuesday as the ladies of the Junior Auxiliary packed backpacks one by one with school supplies.

The supplies are purchased through funds raised during the group's annual fall charity call. This year the organization received additional donations from the public during the "Tools for Schools" school supply drive.

Christie Dyess chairs the JA's 30-member backpack committee. "I just really am excited about this year, the backpack drive, getting those extra supplies," said Dyess. "That means we can reach more kids."

After all the backpacks are filled with supplies, they are loaded into cars and delivered to each school. School counselors determine which children will receive the backpacks.
