PETAL, MS. (HATTIESBURG) - Bond was set at over 3.5 million dollars today for a suspect in the robbery of the Petal Drug Store earlier this month.

Alabama native Bernard Jack Brown the 3rd, one of the alleged thieves, who made off with a hundred thousand dollars worth of stolen drugs, was arraigned today on a variety of charges in Petal Municipal Court.

Those charges include one count of armed robbery, six counts of kidnapping, one count of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime. Two other suspects who are allegedly involved with the crime, Tommy Frank Hare and Dennis Ray Wilson are in custody in Alabama.

Petal officials are working to bring them to Mississippi to face local charges.

"Those individuals have local charges pending in Alabama. Once those charges are satisfied then the extradition process from there to here can be complete," said Sergeant Matthew Hiatt with the Petal Police Department.

Bernard Jack Brown will be held at the Forrest County Jail. Sergeant Hiatt says this crime has affected the entire Petal Community and he is thankful that no one was seriously injured.
