Man in jail for burning car at hotel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A 68-year-old man is in custody tonight, accused of arson.

Police arrested Talmage Harper for allegedly burning a car at the Laurel Hotel and Conference Center.    

The vehicle was a 2003 Chrysler 300. Investigators say Harper didn't know the owner of the car and his motive is unclear.

Police say Harper was identified by several witnesses on the scene.

He's in jail awaiting bond.

    Southern Miss football's annual black and gold spring game turned out to be a defensive battle as the Gold squad prevailed 14-7.
