HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - A string quartet from the University of Southern Mississippi is sharing their love of music with the downtown lunch crowd this summer.

It is all part of the "Midsummer's Daydream Concert Series."

Violinist Stan Roberts is a Southern Miss Junior and a second year veteran of the quartet.

"You know this is a more fun, relaxed program than what I would usually be doing," said Roberts.

Visit Hattiesburg, a Hub City tourism organization, and the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association are teaming up to bring the string quartet's music to six downtown restaurants this year. Kristie Fairley works with Visit Hattiesburg.

"And obviously the University of Southern Mississippi's Symphony Orchestra is a jewel and a treasure that we've got here in the Hattiesburg area," said Fairley.

The string quartet performs on Wednesdays through Fridays from 12 to 1 pm.

The schedule is as follows:

  • July 17 - Brownstone's
  • July 22, 23, 24 - 206 Front
  • July 29, 30, 31 - Bianchi's Pizzeria
