Marion murder suspects appear in court

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Nine suspects made their first appearance in court in Marion County Friday in connection with the shooting death of an Expose man earlier this week.

The suspects, ranging in age from 16 to 41, are facing charges of murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

They were charged in the death of 25-year-old Tashodrick Daniels, who was fatally shot at his home at 17 Brewer Road early Tuesday morning.

Authorities said the suspects had previously lost money to Daniels while rolling dice.

"All nine of these defendants went to that residence on 17 Brewer Road, and we understand did actually get into a dice game," said Marion County Sherrif Berkely Hall.  "At some point and time, it did turn ugly. There was a weapon produced and Shod Daniels was shot. Whenever the deputies arrived shortly thereafter, they talked to the grandmother on the scene and found the deceased inside the house.

Hall said bond for each suspect was set at $2 million dollars.
