HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Bribery charges against a Pine Belt lawyer and former Forrest County district attorney have been dropped.
Glenn White was cleared of wrong doing by Attorney General's Office on Thursday.
White was arrested in March by Pearl River County deputies after being accused of bribing a witness, who White claimed he was interviewing for a case.
White said the arrest was a personal attack from the sheriff's office for representing certain clients.
"I knew in the onset that this was a prosecution that was motivated because of my representation of my clients here in Pearl River County," said White. "I did nothing wrong. The attorney general reviewed the evidence that was submitted to him, and they decided to dismiss the charges outright."
White added, "To attack some who did nothing wrong - it's just unjustified, and I hope to rectify that in a different form, in a different court; and hopefully people will learn their lessons.
The Attorney General's Office had to handle the case after District Attorney Hal Kittrell had recused himself due to the possibility of having to testify if there had been a trial.
