New Petal mayor, aldermen sworn in

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - Over 100 Petal residents attended the swearing in of Mayor Hal Marx and the new Board of Alderman at the Petal Civic Center Tuesday.

Accompanied by his son, Mayor Marx was sworn in first and remarked he was humbled by the responsibility he has been given and is eager to begin his duties.

Following Marx, newcomers James Runnels, Tony Ducker and Willie Hinton joined incumbents David Clayton and Steve Stringer as they were sworn in to complete the new administration.

"I think this administration is going to try our best to first of all get us out of the financial situation we're in, get us back on solid footing budget wise, and then we're going to do our best to address the needs of the city," said Marx.

The new administration met later for the first time to appoint several city positions.
