Cops seize $2.5 million in marijuana

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Police Drug Interdiction Team has seized approximately $2.5 million in marijuana after a traffic stop.

An 18-wheeler carrying avocados was pulled over along I-59 near mile marker 63 around 6 p.m. Sunday for driving erratically, police said.

After inspecting the trailer, police discovered around 1,750 pounds of tightly bundled marijuana.

Authorities said they believe the vehicle was passing through Mississippi on its way to another state.

The driver was arrested, and the vehicle impounded.
