Holder wins in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - After a recount Thursday, it was confiirmed that Miriam Holder will be the next mayor of Lumberton.

Holder bear out her nearest challenger, Albert Yound, by 11 votes. The final count was 263 to 252.

Tuesday night's count had Holder with a one-vote lead over challenger Al Young.

Once the 9 valid affidavits were counted, Holder's lead increased to seven votes. Both candidates beat out incumbent Larry Strahan, and Young requested the re-count.

"The future of Lumberton is at stake with this administration, and the future looks good," said Holder.
