HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Firefighters were once again called to the Forrest County Jail after inmates set two fires Tuesday night on two different floors.
Sheriff Billy McGee said the first fire was set by inmates on the fourth floor - which was evacuated. Inmates also set fires on the third floor.
All fires were minor and started by inmates who where placed on lockdown after setting another fire a few weeks ago.
McGee said the inmates were upset about having their privileges as well as visitations taken away and became disgruntled.
"With individuals with a mentality that they will set a fire in a confined area that they can't get out of, they're locked down in, you're not dealing with the sharpest guys," said McGee.
No one was injured in any of the fires, and lockdown will be extended for the inmates who set Tuesday's fire.
