Nearly thirty-two hundred Mississippi Army National Guardsmen will mobilize in May and will begin their final training for deployment in the War on Terror. This will be the 2nd deployment for hundreds of members of the 155th Brigade Combat Team, made up of soldiers from 49 communities in the state, from North Mississippi to the Gulf Coast.
The 155th spent 2005 in Iraq in the largest deployment of Mississippi Guard soldiers since World War II according to the Associated Press.
Communities all over the state are coming together to honor and support these brave and courageous troops and their families. Two examples close to home this coming Monday…both Columbia and McComb are having parades for their soldiers on their way to Iraq. Since Columbia is just down the road a piece their parade will start at 2PM if you would like to drive over and help line the streets.
A number of churches and organizations throughout the state are having luncheons and suppers stressing their resources and willingness to be there to help the families of these service people left here while the 155th is deployed.
We urge everyone to demonstrate your support and remember these fine men and women in uniform in your thoughts and prayers as they serve our country. To all of them and all of you we wish a blessed and loving Easter.
