Forrest and Jones Counties working together to catch rapist

OVETT, MS (WDAM) - Forrest and Jones county authorities are working together to catch a serial rapist.

They are attempting to determine if a suspect in a 2008 attempted rape in Forrest County might be the same man who raped an Ovett woman last week.

Forrest County Sheriff Billy Magee said there are several similarities between the Jones County rapist and the man who attacked a 60-year-old Forrest County woman in 2008.

Magee said the man entered the back door of the woman's home, and when she awoke he was standing over her, but she was able to fight him off.

Magee said that man - like the Jones County suspect - was a Hispanic man in his mid-to-late 20s to early 30s.
