Six indicted in murder of Hattiesburg man

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A grand jury has handed down six indictments in the October 2008 robbery and murder of a Hattiesburg man.

Juveniles Darwin Marquel Wells, Terry Hye, and Tevin James Benjamin were indicted on charges of capital murder in the death of Hattiesburg resident Michael David Porter.

Instead of a capitol murder charge Alonzo Kelly will now face a lesser charge of accessory after the fact to murder. Melody Jones and Faith Gibson also face accessory charges.

Porter was asking for directions to a high-school football game when he was murdered in Moss Point. He was on his way to see his grandson play.

Trial dates will be set for later this year.
