HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg doctor received the surprise of a lifetime Monday night when his name was drawn in a raffle as the Saints Super Bowl championship ring winner during the nationally televised Saints versus the 49ers game in San Francisco.

Scott Lynn is a Neurologist with Hattiesburg Clinic. He purchased a raffle ticket to benefit the Saints Gulf Coast Renewal Fund. That group works to help victims of the oil spill disaster, and the raffle raised nearly $1.4 million.

The raffle gave Saints fans a chance to win a Tiffany and Company championship ring identical to the ones members of the Saints organization received following the team's 2010 Super Bowl victory.

Lynn said he actually recorded the game on his DVR, to watch a bit later Monday night and realized something was up when he started getting text messages from friends around 10 p.m. So, Lynn fast forwarded the game to watch the official announcement.

"And shortly after that Tom Benson, the owner of the Saints, called and we had a brief conversation that was cut off by a cell phone. He said he would call back and he called about an hour later and congratulated me, it was very nice. It was kind of a crazy evening, not a lot of sleep after that," said Lynn.

Lynn said he will make sure local Saints fans who want a chance to see the ring up close can do so.
