    Authorities said two street gangs are responsible for a Monday afternoon shooting at the Bonhomie Apartments, where three people were injured and over 70 shots were fired.     Pearl River Community College announced that it would increase the minimum hourly wage for all workers to $10 next month.  The PRCC Board of Trustees approved the proposal at its monthly meeting in December and affects 38 employees of the school. Hourly employees at the school currently receive the federal minimum wage of $7.25.     A man attempted suicide in the parking lot of a Laurel business.  Laurel police responded to a report of a shooting at a Laurel retail business on 16th Avenue at approximately 4:46 p.m. According to police, a male subject was located outside a vehicle suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The man was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center for treatment.  Laurel police said that there is no current danger to the public and are not seeking suspe...

    For the sixth time in school history and the first time since 2002, the Taylorsville Tartars are state champions after beating Winona 41-26 in the class 2A state title. However, Friday’s contest was more than just a football game for Taylorsville. The Tartars were playing for Lauren Phipps, a junior cheerleader who was killed in a car accident on October 12. Phipps was 16-years-old.

    A Hub City man has been charged with murder in the Wednesday shooting death at a Hattiesburg hotel.  Allen Russell, 34, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 29th after a search warrant was served at his West 4th Street apartment. The food will be used to restock the food pantry and help feed families at the soup kitchen.     After falling in the second round of the 2016 NAIA women’s soccer national championship, William Carey just went a step further. The Lady Crusaders (18-2) beat Oklahoma Wesleyan 4-0 on Monday to advance the quarterfinals of this year’s national tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama.
