PURVIS, MISS (WDAM) - A Lamar County substitute teacher arrested on charges of child exploitation is now out on bond.
George Fries, 29, appeared before Municipal Judge Tony Mozingo Tuesday, one day after his arrest by Purvis Police. His bond was set at $50,000.
Police said they were tipped off by the grandparent of a 17-year-old student. The woman claims she saw inappropriate text messages on her granddaughter's phone. Fries was arrested around 11:30 a.m. at Purvis Middle School on Monday after investigators tracked the text messages back to his phone and obtained a search warrant. His computer and cell phone were both seized. Investigators said they found evidence of child pornography on his computer, including images of a student Fries had taught. Fries had been a substitute teacher at both the middle school and Purvis High.Comments Terms of Use: We welcome your participation in our community. Please keep your comments civil and on point.
