Beginning this weekend, motorists will be able to travel on U.S. 90 in Biloxi and Long Beach.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that parts of the highway will reopen to traffic at 10 a.m. Saturday. The beach-side highway is now open to two-lane traffic in Gulfport and Pass Christian.
In Biloxi, two lanes of traffic will open from Gulfport to Interstate 110; the highway will remain closed in east Biloxi. Two lanes will be open for the full length of Long Beach.
U.S. 90 has been closed because of severe damage caused Hurricane Katrina on Aug. 29. The hurricane washed away parts of the roadbed.
