
Red Cross officials say Mize students are lucky to be alive after high winds blew the roof off Mize High School in Smith County.
School administrators moved 650 students onto the first floor of a two-story building just before a tornado hit. No one was injured.

Pike County may have taken the worst of the weather's punch in South Mississippi. Eight homes there were flattened by a tornado that cut a 10- to 12-mile path off old Highway 24 near McComb. Another 15 homes sustained major damage and one church was destroyed.
