LSU: 3 finalists for Pennington biomedical center

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A nutrition professor, the head of a university nutrition center, and an obesity researcher are finalists to run the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge.

The LSU System said Monday that its 15-member search committee had unanimously chosen the three from among 13 applicants.

James Hill is director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Steven Heymsfield is global director of scientific affairs for obesity for Merck & Co. Dr. Samuel Klein is a professor at the Washington University School of Medicine.

LSU System President John V. Lombardi will make a final recommendation to the LSU Board of Supervisors.

Executive director Claude Bouchard plans to return to research and teaching.
