Mississippi expected to get snow

Associated Press - December 3, 2009 3:04 PM ET

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The National Weather Service is predicting between 1 and 2 inches of snow in a swath beginning late Friday around Natchez and moving northeast through Mississippi.

Jared Allen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson, tells The Clarion-Ledger that a system of cool air from the Plain States will move in late Friday and collide with moist air from the Gulf of Mexico.

Allen says cities like Brookhaven and Hazlehurst could receive about 2 inches.

The system is expected to move through the state in the late evening hours Friday and early morning Saturday. Allen says the white stuff won't last long.
