NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A black man from Mississippi who posed as a white supremacist and sent racist death threats over the Internet in the aftermath of President Barack Obama's election has been sentenced to three years of probation.
U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt also on Wednesday ordered 20-year-old Dyron Hart, of Poplarville, Miss., to perform 150 hours of community service and complete a racial sensitivity course.
Hart was charged with using a fake profile on the Facebook social networking Web site to send threatening messages to three black students at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.
Authorities said he pretended to be a white man upset by Obama's election when he threatened to kill the students.
