GRENADA, Miss. (AP) - The preliminary hearing for a Holcomb man charged with the murders of 2 Grenada County residents has been delayed.
The hearing for John Wayne McChriston is now set for Dec. 17 before Grenada County Justice Court Judge Jimmy Tallent. The hearing was originally scheduled for Thursday.
Justice Court Clerk Brenda Mullen told The Greenwood Commonwealth the hearing had to be rescheduled because of a conflict of McChristonÂ’s court-appointed attorney, Ray Baum of Winona. Baum declined to comment.
Police say 69-year-old Rev. Jimmy Stauddy and 47-year-old Martha Stoker were stabbed to death at Stauddy's Holcomb home Nov. 15. Authorities have said McChriston had argued with them over $8 he needed to buy drugs.
