A Hattiesburg man faces drug charges tonight after police seized several pounds of marijuana from an SUV he was driving and his east Hub City home. Police say 23-year-old Reco McDonald was taken into custody after he attempted to run from officers during a traffic stop this morning.

It was during the stop when officers say they discovered 2 pounds of marijuana in the Chevy Tahoe McDonald was driving. A short time later, officers say they found an additional 10 pounds of marijuana at his residence on 8th Avenue.

Officers say they also confiscated 4 grams of powdered cocaine, $2,000 cash and an automatic handgun.

McDonald has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.
