LELAND, Miss. (AP) - Police say a 40-year-old Leland man, allegedly defending his daughter's honor, was jailed and charged with aggravated assault.
Authorities tell the Delta Democrat Times that Carl Richmond was arrested Friday night and charged with aggravated assault.
Richmond allegedly shot 23-year-old Theodore Binder of Greenville outside a Leland nightclub.
Police said Richmond's daughter, who is underage but was escorted to the club by her father to attend her older sister's birthday party, was dancing at the club.
She claimed that Binder made unwelcome advances toward her.
Police say Binder and Richmond got into an altercation, which ended with Richmond shooting Binder in the shoulder.
