BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former dean of students at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired has been named interim director at the school.
The Louisiana Special School District announced Bobby Simpson's appointment Tuesday. He has been working as chief operations officer for a Realty company; before that, he was mayor/president of East Baton Rouge Parish and mayor of Baker.
Former director Janet Ford resigned in October, after being put on non-disciplinary leave while the state education department investigated allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct between two students.
The Special School District is conducting a national search for a permanent director.
