Attorney general: Grenada officer faces sex charge

Associated Press - November 18, 2009 6:34 PM ET

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Attorney General Jim Hood says a Grenada police officer has been arrested on charges of sexual battery of a minor.

Hood, in a news release, says Donnie Tenner was arrested Wednesday at the Grenada County jail by investigators with the public integrity division of the attorney general's office.

Hood says Tenner had been indicted in Tallahatchie County Circuit Court.

According to the indictments, the alleged activity occurred in 1998 and 2005 while Tenner served as a teacher, assistant coach and police officer. Hood says the alleged crimes occurred while Tenner was working in Charleston.

Hood didn't say whether Tenner had an attorney. A dispatcher at the Grenada County sheriff's department says she didn't have that information.
