SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - The Dizzy Dean World Series will remain in Southaven through 2019 with a renewable option for another five years.
The Dizzy Dean board of directors approved this week approved a guaranteed 5-year contract, with a renewable option for another five years.
Mayor Greg Davis tells The Commercial Appeal in Memphis that the city gets $250,000 in fees, including ticket sales associated with the World Series.
The Dizzy Dean annual youth tournament brings 200 softball and baseball teams to town for nine days.
Dizzy Dean commissioner Danny Phillips says no other city offered the multiple-year contract like Southaven.
The tournament begins July 22 at Snowden Grove Park and Greenbrook Baseball Complex.
