Bicycle rider killed near DeRidder

DERIDDER, La. (AP) - State police say a traffic accident south of DeRidder killed a bicycle rider.

Nineteen-year-old Wade Dyck of DeRidder was killed after riding his bicycle into the intersection of U.S. Highway 171 and Louisiana Highway 394.

State police say he was trying to turn the bicycle around when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle. The accident happened Tuesday evening, according to a news release from state police. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday morning.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, which was still under investigation Wednesday.
