Meth lab discovered in mobile home

Associated Press - November 11, 2009 5:54 AM ET

LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara says a man and his girlfriend are accused of manufacturing meth at a mobile-home park in Long Beach.

Brisolara said Tuesday 40-year-old Donald Wayne Ackers and 33-year-old Karen Roberts Williams were found with a meth lab, precursor chemicals and hazardous meth waste in their mobile home.

The sheriff told The Sun Herald that investigators also found meth and methadone. Methadone is a narcotic pain reliever often prescribed to help detoxify heroin addicts.

The couple were taken into custody Friday after a raid at their home.

Both remain in custody at the Harrison County jail.

It wasn't immediately clear if Acker and Williams have attorneys.
