HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Bond was set at $1 million for a Petal man charged with the murder of his brother-n-law.

Daniel Kohler, 35, made his initial appearance in Petal municipal court before judge Sheila Smallwood Thursday.

Investigators said at around Kohler stabbed his brother-n-law Christopher Mason multiple times around 6 p.m. Wednesday night after getting into an argument.

Investigators said the two lived together at Mason's home on Old Corinth Road.

Mason was taken to Forrest General Hospital and died around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Petal investigators are still trying to determine the exact motive. And say this is the first murder investigation in the friendly city in nine years.
