PRENTISS, Miss. (AP) - Hundreds of people at a Jefferson Davis County race track watched as a man died after crashing his four-wheeler.
Jefferson Davis Coroner Greg Blackwell told the Clarion-Ledger that 31-year-old Albert Wooten of Brandon was riding the all-terrain vehicle during a solo time trial Sunday at the Finishline Dragstrip west of Prentiss.
Blackwell said Wooten lost control of the four-wheeler and crashed into a steel guard rail. Wooten was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision occurred about 4:30 p.m. as spectators gathered to watch the races. Blackwell said the race track attracts people from across Mississippi and neighboring states who race a variety of vehicles. He said Wooten was driving a custom ATV modified for racing.
