Woman dies in collision

GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Officials say an Avon woman was killed when two vehicles collided south of Greenville.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol tells WXVT-TV that 22-year-old Lauren Nicole Ferguson Avon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened about noon Tuesday near the intersection of Miss. highways 1 and 454.

Investigators say Ferguson was southbound on Highway 1 when her car crossed into the northbound lane and struck an SUV driven by 32-year-old Richard Murdock of Cary.

Murdock and his passenger, a 24-year-old female, were treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

State troopers said it was raining at the time of the accident.
