Police: 12-year-old boy's face set on fire

Associated Press - September 4, 2009 10:34 AM ET

SALTILLO, Miss. (AP) - Police say someone sprayed a 12-year-old boy's face with some type of chemical and set him on fire, leaving the boy with first- and second-degree burns to his face, neck and right arm.

Police Chief Steve Brooks said the incident happened Wednesday and two juveniles are suspected in the crime.

Brooks said Bradley Griffith was walking along a privacy fence when he was approached by two boys who sprayed him in the face with something and then lit it on fire.

The boy was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Brooks says he has been following up on reported leads, but encourages anyone with any information to contact the Saltillo Police Department.
