NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) - Officials in Costa Rica have recovered the body of Mississippi teenager who was washed to sea this past weekend.
The bishop of the Mississippi United Methodist Conference, Hope Morgan Ward, says the body of 17-year-old Marshuan Braxton was recovered Tuesday. Arrangements were being made to bring him home.
Braxton was on a mission in Costa Rica with a youth group from the First United Methodist Church of New Albany.
Officials say Braxton was standing with other young people on rocks looking at the Pacific Ocean near Villa Briceno when a large wave crashed on them Sunday evening.
3 of the four made it back to shore. The mission trip was canceled after Braxton disappeared.
