Search continues for drowning victim

Associated Press - June 23, 2009 6:04 AM ET

IUKA, Miss. (AP) - Divers and other rescue crews continue to search the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway for the body of a man who apparently drowned while swimming.

Tishomingo County Sheriff Glenn Whitlock said his department was notified Saturday of the apparent drowning on the river.

Witnesses told responders the man, whose name has not been released, was on a pontoon boat near the creek when he dove off the vessel.

Whitlock said the search is extremely difficult because of the depth of the river at the spot where the man dove in.
