NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in New Albany say a woman has been charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence in the death of her 22-month-old child in an apartment fire.
Jennifer Taylor was injured in the April 6 fire that killed her daughter, Brayleigh Taylor. Taylor was admitted to a Georgia burn center but checked herself out the same day.
New Albany Police Chief David Grisham says Jennifer Taylor was the sole provider for her daughter and that investigators feel she was negligent in her caretaker role.
Grisham declined to give details about the alleged negligence.
The sheriff's department said Friday that Taylor posted a property bond and has been released from the Union County Jail.
