PETAL, MS (WDAM) - A Petal man made his initial court appearance on Saturday after being accused of using money meant for a church mission.

Gerald Watts Jr., 38, is charged with two counts of false pretense, according to the Petal Police Department.

Investigators said Watts is believed to have taken money meant for a church charity mission and converting it to personal use.

Watts was given a $30,000 bond on Saturday.

The investigation is ongoing.
