ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -The city of Ellisville teamed up with French Quarter Grill and other businesses to put on a Mardi Gras Parade.
"Ellisville is on the rise, there's no doubt. My husband and I own businesses here and we want to bring stuff to Ellisville to have people come in and see what we have to offer,” said Rita Sumrall, owner of the French Quarter Grill and parade organizer.
The parade consisted of over 20 motorcycles, several floats, and antique cars. tons of people lined downtown streets to see the paraders go by as well as grab a few beads from them.
"It’s just a cool place, downtown Ellisville. We want to be one of the hip downtown places to go,” said parader Bill Cooksey.
"We got to bring each other together, support each other and shop local. It’s just a community thing,” said parader, Amanda.
Many organizers believe this parade will be an economic boost for the city.
"It's going to bring people into our town to see what we have to offer. They'll be spending money at our stores, at our restaurants. All that's good,” said Sumrall.
The city is hoping to have more parades like this in the future.
