HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - He’s already Mississippi’s all-time winningest collegiate coach.
Steve Knight has an opportunity to in his 700th career game on Thursday night when William Carey hosts Blue Mountain.
The 37-year veteran knows how the pressure mounts in close games toward the end of the season. With just four games left, the No. 15 Crusaders (19-7) are tied with No. 5 Stillman atop the SSAC standings with a 15-3 conference record.
“It is tough,” Knight said. “The intensity of each game increases a little bit. We’re right down to the wire, fighting and battling for a number one spot. That’s one of our primary goals every year is to win the regular season, then win the conference tournament and make it to nationals. We’re right there. We’ve got a good shot at doing it, we just got to play good basketball.”
