First responders working crash involving train in Forrest Co.

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Sheriff’s deputies, paramedics and emergency management officials are responding to a crash involving a train and a car in Forrest County near the Maxie community.

Forrest County Emergency Operations Executive Director Glen Moore said the crash happened at the railroad crossing over Moffett Road around 4:15 p.m.

Investigator John Tryner, with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department, said at least two people were seriously injured in the collision. Moore said one victim was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg while the other victim was transported to Forrest General by ambulance.

Moore said the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office, the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department and the Carnes Volunteer Fire Department are on scene.
