After having to rally down the stretch to take down Meridian Community College 62-61 earlier in the week, the ninth-ranked Wildcats simply ran away from Copiah-Lincoln Community College 108-66 Thursday night at Mullen Gymnasium.
PRCC (17-0, 8-0 South Division) is off to the best start in the program’s history and remains the only undefeated team in National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I.
Freshman guard Fred Thompson led the Wildcats with 20 points, knocking down six shots from beyond the 3-point arc in the process.
Sophomore guard C.J. Brim added 14 points and three assists, Freshman guard Kelvin Allen scored 11 points and sophomore guard Jonas James III finished 11 points and eight assists. Sophomore guard Brandon Rachal wound up with 10 points and nine rebounds while sophomore forward Jvari Thigpen chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.
Freshman forward Cameron Douglas matched Rachal on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds.
Co-Lin (10-7, 3-5) got a game-high 21 points from sophomore guard Xavier Heidelberg and 16 points and five rebounds from freshman forward Cameron Woodall.
Wolves freshman guard Lance Madison added 10 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots, and sophomore guard Miles Daniels had seven points, nine rebounds and three assists.
The Wildcats return to Poplarville at 7:30 p.m. Monday, hosting East Central Community College.
